Red Oak Ranch Equestrians
In 2004, the Red Oak Ranch community voted in favor of building the first amenity in Red Oak Ranch, an equestrian arena in the Reserve A common area on Lake Forest Drive, with the proviso that all capital costs would be met through donations and fundraising. The arena was to be used by residents of ROR and their guests.
Following a year of planning, fundraising began in earnest early in 2006, with a number of events and the first edition of the Red Oak Ranch Printed Directory - the proceeds from which fund the amenity. The site was cleared in 2006 and construction was ongoing during 2007 and 2008. The 250’ x 100’ arena was finally opened in the summer of 2008. Subsequently, a full set of dressage letters and a mounting block were installed.
We still have some work to do to complete the arena project. Water lines, faucets and water fountains need to be installed. In the future, we hope to add equipment and improvements as funds become available.
Thus far, we have purchased a roller for maintaining the arena surface and have installed an automated gate on the East side of the Arena. Qualified users of the arena can apply for a remote device in order to use the automated gate.
In March 2009, we held our first community event in the arena – a bomb-proofing session. We also held a Halloween bomb-proofing and fun day in 2010. We plan to hold more events, clinics and workshops, so if you have any suggestions or ideas, or are willing to organize an event, please let us know!
The ongoing development of the amenity continues to be supported by donations, fundraising and user fees.
If you have not yet made arrangements to use the arena, and wish to do so, please contact us. As a reminder, families need to pay the annual user fee (currently $180.00) in order to gain access and use the amenity.
Also, a reminder that all users of the arena, whether ROR residents or their guests, must accept the Rules and Regulations and sign the Release of Liability before riding in the facility. Please contact us for more details.
Copies of the Horse Arena Rules & Regulations and the Horse Arena Release of Liability are available below, together with the application forms for using the arena and obtaining a remote device for the automated gate.
All users of the amenity, whether riders or spectators, do so at their own risk.
